Exciting Lions playmakers Sanele Nohamba and Jordan Hendrikse are thrilled about joining the Springbok alignment camp, starting on 4 March.

They are two of a sextuplet of Lions among the 16 uncapped players on the 43-strong list that will be attending the two-day Bok strategic gathering in Cape Town next month.

Speaking to News24 in Johannesburg on Thursday, Nohamba, previously part of the Bok setup in September 2020, sees his return as a significant honor and privilege.

“It’s going to be good to see where the goals are, where I stand with the Springbok coaches, so I’m really excited,” he said.

“The Boks play differently to how we play here, so mine there is to learn and fit in as best as possible.”

Hendrikse, eager to align with his brother Jaden, emphasises the importance of understanding the Bok culture and establishing a foundation.

“We’ll be in a lot of meetings and also getting to understand what the Bok culture stands for,” he added. “My brother did call me, but I’m happy to be part of that and starting to learn when I’m there.”

Lions assistant coach Ricardo Loubscher views this opportunity as valuable for the players to experience the national team environment as well as bring back insights to benefit the Lions squad.

“We hope they’ll come back with all of the intellectual property that they can filter back into our players and squad,” he said. “If you look at the guys, you can see the X-factor they bring to our team.

“I hope they can take it further to the next level and take it further than just the alignment camps, but we’re excited for them.”
