This game was preceded by neighbours Jeppe claiming a third win on the trot with a 59-6 victory over Uitenhage’s Brandwag.

There were mixed results for the Eastern Cape schools at KES, as Queen’s College opened the second and final day by beating Tzaneen’s Ben Vorster 38-0, while Selborne beat Eldoraigne 31-3 and Dale College were victorious against Parktown 23-15, but Hudson Park were beaten 40-8 by Northwood.

Paarl Boys High went unbeaten at the KES Easter Festival with a fairly comfortable 24-8 win against Pretoria Boys.

The biggest shock of the final day came at the Kearsney Easter Festival, where Westville held on to beat Monument 25-22.

Westville, who lost their opening game to Rondebosch Boys before narrowly winning against Pearson, flew into a 22-0 lead and rallied defensively to see out a morale-boosting victory in the penultimate game of the festival.

Hosts Kearsney suffered a third successive loss against EG Jansen (36-11), while Durban High claimed a third straight win against Pearson (38-7).
