Paul Roos and Affies warmed up for their North-South tournament match in Pretoria with big wins on Saturday.

The two schools are set to meet in the main game of next week’s North-South tournament on Saturday, hosted by Affies.

Flyhalf Joshua Dampies scored 21 points to inspire Paul Roos to a 73-10 win against HTS Drostdy, while Affies kicked into gear with a 45-21 win against Helpmekaar.

Monument, who face Paarl Gym next Saturday, kicked off their season by beating Welkom Gym 64-28. Paarl Gym claimed a comfortable 29-5 victory over Stellenberg, having struggled against the Jade Brigade in the last two years.

Johannesburg schools Jeppe and KES, who both face giants Grey College at next week’s tournament, had contrasting results. Jeppe were beaten 37-31 by Garsfontein, while KES started their season with a 31-27 win against Noordheuwel.

Meanwhile, in KwaZulu-Natal, Northwood scalped Hilton College 10-7 and in the Eastern Cape, Selborne beat hosts Graeme College 14-7 at the Graeme Rugby Dayl.
