Kurt-Lee Arendse and Canan Moodie each scored a brace of tries as the Bulls thrashed Ospreys in the Vodacom URC in Pretoria on Saturday.

The Springbok flyers dotted down either side of the break for the Bulls while flyhalf Chris Smith kicked 12 points in a 61-24 bonus-point win at Loftus Versfeld, with Jake White’s charges moving into third on the overall log before the close of round 15 in the competition.

Four first-half tries from hooker Johan Grobbelaar, outside centre David Kriel and wingers Arendse and Moodie, plus three conversions from Smith, powered the hosts to a 26-10 lead at the interval, while five points from Jack Walsh and a Luke Davies touchdown kept the visitors within touching distance at the break.

Moodie, Arendse and scrumhalf Embrose Papier crossed the whitewash soon after the restart, with Smith on target from the kicking tee, but inside centre Keiran Williams pulled one back for Ospreys before the close of the third quarter.

Fullback Max Nagy saw yellow for a deliberate knockdown that resulted in a penalty try for the Bulls, yet the men in blue failed to capitalise on their numerical advantage.

Ospreys winger Keelan Giles acrobatically dotted down in the right corner in the final 10 minutes, but an intercept try from fullback Willie le Roux completed an emphatic win for the home side.

The Bulls will now have a week’s break before a visit from the Glasgow Warriors on Saturday, 11 May.
