The Cheetahs have officially announced the signing of 2019 World Cup-winning wing Sbu Nkosi on a one-year contract.

Nkosi has inked a contract with the Cheetahs, commencing on 1 March 2024 and running through until 30 June 2025.

The move allows Nkosi to make a fresh start and resurrect his rugby career, after his contract with the Vodacom Bulls was terminated by mutual consent last year.

The 28-year-old has already started training with his new team in Bloemfontein and could make his debut in a warm-up match against the Griquas on Saturday, 9 March, in Jacobsdal.

“The Cheetahs are thrilled to announce the official signing of Springbok winger Sbu Nkosi to strengthen the squad for the upcoming season,” a statement from the team read.

“The dynamic winger made his Springbok debut on 9 June 2018, at 22, showcasing his remarkable talent against England at Ellis Park. He earned 16 caps and notably contributed nine tries. His last test appearance was on 2 October 2021, facing the All Blacks in Australia.

“Having previously lent his skill to the Sharks and the Bulls, Sbu Nkosi brings a wealth of experience to the Cheetahs. He shared the field with Cheetah’s Director of Rugby, Frans Steyn, during the 2019 World Cup.

“The Cheetahs eagerly anticipate Sbu Nkosi’s impact on the field. He is warmly welcomed as he dons the orange jersey for the upcoming challenges.”
