As the Bristol Bears charge towards the Premiership playoffs, Benhard Janse van Rensburg’s popularity has skyrocketed and ignited a mullet frenzy among fans.

Dubbed ‘BV’, the former Cheetahs and Sharks centre’s quirky haircut has sparked a trend with supporters donning mullet wigs at games, paying homage to the South African’s unique style.

In a wide-ranging interview with the UK’s Daily Mail, Janse van Rensburg revealed his journey to mullet fame, sharing, “I always wanted to grow a mullet… My missus wasn’t really into it, but one day, I just decided that I was going to cut it into a mullet and see what happened.”

His mullet has since become iconic, with fans emulating his look and even young Bristolians growing their hair in tribute.
