Assistant coach Dawie Snyman said the DHL Stormers will pay special attention to a fired-up Chris Hollis when their former teammate runs out for Dragons in Wales on Friday.

The 25-year-old has linked up with the Welsh outfit for the remainder of the season from the Stormers, and will make his maiden appearance for the Welsh outfit in the Vodacom URC clash at Rodney Parade.

Hollis, who can play centre or wing, made the move after featuring on the wing for John Dobson’s charges in March when the Capetonians beat the Northampton Saints in an exhibition clash in England.

“Back home I was struggling a bit with game time, then I got the opportunity to come over and it happened quite suddenly,” Hollis told the South Wales Argus.

“It’s an extremely special game first up. I didn’t think when the season started that my first game this season would be against the Stormers!

“I’ve thought about what this game means and it’s not about trying to prove them wrong, or revenge or anything like that. It’s more a case of proving myself right.

“I know what type of player I am. I know what I can do. I play for my family, but I also want to prove Dai [Flanagan] and the rest of the management right for picking me and for backing me.

“It’s more about proving myself right and everyone around me right, rather than proving anyone wrong.”

Speaking to the media from Wales in the buildup to Friday’s clash, Snyman told reporters: “Chris is a very professional player and hard worker. Unfortunately, things worked out in such a way that he didn’t play much for the Stormers.

“I think he’s going to bring a physical presence. He’s a big boy and has inside knowledge of how we work, which can benefit them.

“He’s quick off the mark and good enough to be able to play at this level in these conditions, where it’s heavier underfoot. In our group, he competed with guys with a lot of speed, which is the reason he didn’t get much of a chance to play.”
