English Premiership outfit Bath have confirmed the signing of Jacques du Plessis following a successful rehabilitation period with the club.

Du Plessis, who made his debut against Gloucester in a friendly on 12 March, will stay on until the end of the season with an option to extend his contract.

The former Junior Springbok is available for selection against Sale Sharks this weekend.

“I am excited that Jacques has joined our journey here at Bath Rugby,” head of rugby Johann van Graan told the club’s website.

“Credit to both the player and our medical and physical performance team for the work they have put in to get Jacques not only playing but performing. I also want to express my thanks to the Bulls in South Africa for their co-operation to enable this to happen. I can’t wait to see Jacques in the blue, black and white.”

The 30-year-old linked up with Bath after an injury-marred stint with the Vodacom Bulls. He previously made more than 100 appearances for Montpellier in the Top 14, winning the 2015-16 European Challenge Cup.
