New Zealand coach Scott Robertson has reportedly approached retired Test centurion Sam Whitelock about playing for the All Blacks again this season.

Whitelock’s retirement seemed set in stone following the 2023 Rugby World Cup final defeat against the Springboks in France, yet according to New Zealand’s Herald, Robertson has opened talks of a comeback, hoping to inject experience and leadership into the squad.

With over 150 caps, the France-based lock could surpass the world appearance record, adding a remarkable chapter to the 36-year-old’s career.
