Hacjivah Dayimani is among a trio of DHL Stormers stars who are reportedly set for crunch talks over moves away from Cape Town at the end of the season.

According to a report by Sport24, Dayimani and fellow loose forwards Nama Xaba and Junior Pokomela are in talks with the DHL Stormers over potential exits when the current Vodacom URC campaign ends in June.

Dayimani has lucrative offers from Japan and France, and has reportedly decided that he wants to leave after being snubbed from the recent Springbok alignment camp in Cape Town.

However, Dayimani’s contract with Western Province Rugby runs until 2025, hence the need for talks over a potential early release.

The 26-year-old has been in sensational form at No 8 for the Stormers this season. In the Stormers’ most recent home game against Sale Sharks, Dayimani beat 10 defenders, the most for a forward in a Champions Cup game in a man of the match performance.

According to Opta stats, Dayimani shares the record with incumbent Springbok No 8 Jasper Wiese, who has a stronger reputation as a destructive ball-carrier.

However, his output in the trenches is still seen as a potential weakness in his game, especially when compared to the likes of Elrigh Louw and Mpilo Gumede, who were both among the 43 players attending the alignment camp.

Meanwhile the Vodacom Bulls are reportedly interested in poaching Xaba and Pokomela.

A graduate of the Western Province youth system, Xaba has long been earmarked as a successor to veteran openside flank Deon Fourie, but has endured a terrible run of injuries over the past few years.

Pokomela, who joined the Stormers from the Cheetahs in 2021, has seen his game time limited to just one appearance as a substitute this season, due to the Cape side’s overwhelming depth at loose forward. He was linked with move to the Lions and Griquas (on loan) before the season started.
