The Sharks have strongly hinted that Springbok centre Andre Esterhuizen is among a quartet of new signings for next season.

Esterhuizen’s representatives have reportedly been in negotiations with the Sharks over a potential return to Kings Park, where he started his career in 2013.

The 2023 World Cup winner’s contract with Harlequins was thought to be a stumbling point, as it runs until June 2025 and the English was reported to be demanding a transfer fee of £500,000 (almost R12 million) to release him early.

However, in a social media post providing clues to four new signings for the 2024-25 season, the Sharks dropped their biggest hint yet that a breakthrough has been reached to get Esterhuizen back to Durban.

Esterhuizen is not the only Springbok who could be making Kings Park his home next season, as the Sharks have also been in talks with veteran tighthead prop Trevor Nyakane.

Lions duo Jordan Hendrikse (flyhalf) and Emmanuel Tshituka (loose forward) are also reported targets for the Sharks, where they would be reunited with brothers Jaden Hendrikse (scrumhalf) and Vincent Tshituka (loose forward).
