Two South Africans have earned a place among the best XV chosen from the Welsh regional teams over the course of this season.

Thirteen rounds of the Vodacom URC has been completed ahead of the resumption of the European cup competitions this week, with the round of 16 in the Champions and Challenge cups kicking off on Friday.

In a standout group of players compiled by Wales Online, the lists includes Wales’ Six Nations breakout star Cameron Winnett of Cardiff and former All Blacks bruiser Vaea Fifita, who has featured prominently at lock and across the back row for Scarlets.

Linking up with Cardiff from 2022 Currie Cup winners the Pumas this season, flyhalf Tinus de Beer has been a hit at Cardiff Arms Park. The 28-year-old has started all 16 games for his new team and is third on the URC points scorers’ list with 97 points.

One of the leading scrummagers in Welsh rugby, Tom Botha has been an excellent addition to the Ospreys since joining from the Cheetahs in 2018, and the tighthead prop barged over the whitewash in a bonus-point win against the Lions on Saturday.
