New Zealand centre Charlie Ngatai will start his first game since December as Leinster have made 13 changes to their lineup to face the Lions in Johannesburg on Saturday.

One-cap All Blacks midfielder Ngatai has recovered from a long-term calf injury and will start his first match of the year as Leinster have named almost an entirely new starting lineup.

Springbok lock Jason Jenkins and fullback Ciaran Frawley are the only survivors from the team that thrashed two-time defending champions La Rochelle in the Champions Cup quarter-finals last weekend.

Despite making so many changes, Leinster will still have three capped Ireland internationals in their backline – Frawley, flyhalf Harry Byrne and scrumhalf Luke McGrath.

Meanwhile No 8 Max Deegan and loosehead Cian Healy offer more experience to a youthful pack captained by 24-year-old Scott Penny.
