‘Springbok head hunters at it again’ – Franco Mostert controversially shown a permanent red card against Italy

Franco Mostert is the second Springboks’ lock to be red-carded in a Test match in as many weekends following his tackle on Italy’s Paolo Garbisi.

Much like Lood de Jager’s permanent red card against France, Mostert made the hit after an initial tackle was made by a teammate.

Centre Ethan Hooker made the first contact with the Italian fly-half, with the Bok lock coming into add his weight to hit.

While play initially continued, referee James Doleman was notified by his TMO Tual Trainini that an act of foul play may have occurred.
