Veteran prop WP Nel will make his 200th appearance for Edinburgh in the Vodacom URC clash with the DHL Stormers in Cape Town on Saturday.

Scotland internationalist Nel, 37, will fittingly enter the 200 club in Cape Town where his professional rugby career started at Western Province 16 years ago.

Having been a mainstay in the capital pack since arriving in Edinburgh in 2012, the tighthead prop now joins club legends Alan Jacobsen [273 appearances] and Chris Paterson [205] in an exclusive group of Edinburgh players.

Nel is one of four South African-born players in Edinburgh’s matchday squad. Loosehead props Boan Venter and Luan de Bruin are joined by East London-born, New Zealand-raised winger Wes Goosen.

Edinburgh coach Sean Everitt is without Six Nations stars Duhan van der Merwe and Pierre Schoeman, but has called Sam Skinner (lock) and Ben Healy (flyhalf) straight from international duty into the starting lineup.

Everitt is also able to welcome Jamie Hodgson back from injury, with the Scotland lock featuring for the first time since December.

There is a professional debut for 23-year-old academy graduate Jake Henry, on the wing, while Argentina international Emiliano Boffell adds plenty of experience and a rocket boot at fullback.
