Billy Vunipola has been arrested after a violent incident at a bar in Majorca, during which eight officers and two tasers were reportedly needed to subdue to the England star.

According to the Telegraph, the incident took place in Palma on the Spanish island, with local reports saying that Vunipola took off his shirt and threatened customers and employees.

The 1,88m, 126kg No 8 had to be tasered twice in order to be safely arrested by police in the early hours of Sunday morning and was transported to hospital, where he was sedated.

Vunipola was later taken to a police station and has since been released on bail, pending an investigation.

Saracens released a statement on Monday morning, confirming that the club is aware of the incident.

Vunipola played for Saracens in the Premiership win against Bath on Friday night, but was given this week off, as the club is not part of this weekend’s European semi-finals.

The 31-year-old earned the last of his 75 Test caps in the 2023 World Cup semi-final against South Africa and was left out of Steve Borthwick’s England squad for the Six Nations.
