RG Snyman will start in his first appearance of the season for Munster on Friday night after recovering from post-World Cup surgery.

Snyman, recovering from a chest injury sustained during the Rugby World Cup final in October, underwent surgery in November and was initially slated for a March comeback.

However, head coach Graham Rowntree revealed that the giant lock made quicker progress than expected in his recovery and returned to training last week.

Snyman has been brought straight back into Munster’s starting lineup for the URC clash with Scarlets in Llanelli on Friday.

It will be the two-time World Cup winner’s first appearance for Munster since last season’s grand final victory against the DHL Stormers in Cape Town.
