The list of tight forwards selected to the Springboks’ 35-man training camp includes two-time World Cup winners Eben Etzebeth, Pieter-Steph du Toit, Franco Mostert, Frans Malherbe, Vincent Koch, Bongi Mbonambi and Malcolm Marx.
Malherbe and Koch, along with the uncapped Neethling Fouche are the options at tighthead prop, while Ox Nche and Ntutukho Mchunu man the loosehead side of the front row.
Marx is set to make his long-awaited return from a knee injury suffered at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, and Mbonambi is joined by Stormers duo Joseph Dweba and Andre-Hugo Venter to round out the group of four hookers in the squad.
Etzebeth and Mostert are the senior candidates at lock, with Salmaan Moerat pushing to earn his fourth cap.
With only three specialist options at lock, the Boks could look to deploy Pieter-Steph du Toit in the second row.
