Former Springbok scrumhalf Rudy Paige made his ‘debut’ as a referee during a match between the UCT Ikey Tigers and Boland.

Paige, who played 13 Tests for the Springboks, was on the touchline assisting AJ Jacobs for the friendly at the Green Mile in Cape Town, starting his officiating career.

The former Cheetahs, Bulls and Lions scrumhalf will be following in the footsteps of former Bok women back Aimee Barrett-Theron and ex-Stormers wing Egon Seconds in becoming a referee after retirement.
