Head coach Sean Everitt is relishing the opportunity of returning to the Republic with Edinburgh to help mastermind back-to-back wins against the DHL Stormers and Sharks.

The Scottish outfit face the Stormers at Cape Town Stadium next Saturday when the Vodacom URC resumes in round 12, before heading to Durban to tackle John Plumtree’s charges.

Edinburgh are fourth on the standings after eight victories and three defeats, and travel to SA on the back of a three-match winning streak in the competition.

Speaking in a segment for the club’s Youtube channel, former Sharks boss Everitt acknowledged the challenges that await the team against his countrymen but remains optimistic.

“We haven’t played our best rugby but at the end of the day you have to be happy with the wins that you’re getting, and we know that we can improve on our attack and our finishing,” said Everitt, who joined Edinburgh this season from the Vodacom Bulls.

“We’re sitting fourth now [on the log] and we probably would’ve taken that at the beginning of the season, but there’s an important run of fixtures left in the URC and we all know it’s not how you start but how you finish…

“It’ll be great to go back to SA and see some of the regular faces that I’m used to… but at the same time it’s a challenge for Edinburgh to go and win down there.”

“Fortunately for us they did have a win over the Sharks before, so they’ll take a lot of confidence out of that, but we also know the challenge that awaits us,” he added.

“The Stormers don’t lose often at Cape Town Stadium and have been URC champions and runners up over the last two years.

“But at the same time, this team is a top-four team at the moment and we’ve got to believe that we can go to SA and get points out of those games, and wins, so we are relishing that opportunity.”
