Eddie Jones reportedly didn’t hold back in mocking Prince Harry’s climate change stance, emphasising what the former England coach saw as royal hypocrisy.

Prince Harry, an RFU patron until 2021, was subjected to Jones’ cutting remark during his England coaching tenure while visiting training.

The Australian’s witty observation was recounted by Ben Youngs on the For the Love of Rugby podcast with England prop Dan Cole.

Jones quizzed Harry about climate change and cheekily asked about Elton John’s jet use, referencing the royal and his wife’s private travel that contradicted their climate advocacy.

“You know Prince Harry used to come in a little bit and watch us train? I don’t know what we call him now,” Youngs said. “All of his titles have gone haven’t they?

“There was one time he was standing there and was saying something to the group and then Eddie was like, ‘how’s climate change going mate? How was Elton John’s jet?’ That was quite good.

“Just thrown Eddie under the bus there. And Prince Harry.”
