Tickets for the opening match of the Test series between the Springboks and Ireland at Loftus Versfeld sold out in less than 24 hours on Monday.

General ticket sales to the public opened at 9am on Monday and were sold out on the same day, with a crowd of over 50 000 set to attend the Test.

This comes two days after Loftus Versfeld hosted 50 026 fans in a record-breaking effort for the Vodacom URC derby between the Bulls and Sharks.

Ireland, the current Six Nations title holders, are set to face the world champion Springboks in South Africa for the first time since the three-Test series in 2016.

The Springboks went on to win that series 2-1 after losing the opening Test at Newlands.

Ireland are currently on a three-game winning streak against the Boks, having beaten Allister Coetzee and Rassie Erasmus’ teams in Dublin, while handing South Africa their only defeat of the 2023 World Cup in the pool stage match in Paris.
