Wallabies playmaker Kurtley Beale eyes a surprising code swap to rugby league after recently cleared of sexual assault charges.

The 35-year-old Beale, who faced a year-long legal battle after being stood down by Rugby Australia in 2023, in an interview with Nine News, expressed openness to a code switch.

‘It’s a possibility. I’ve always been a big admirer of league,” he said. “There is interest there, for both codes.”

Beale has reportedly maintained top fitness under sprint coach Roger Fabri, who added: “For 12 months, there has been no other interference. He has been able to focus on being an athlete.”

Keen to move forward, Beale emphasised his commitment to personal growth, stating, “There’s certainly mistakes that I’m not proud of… I’ll be doing everything I can to take the right steps ahead with the relationships I have in my life.”

Now, Beale looks to prioritise family after a tumultuous period, noting, “I can put the past year behind me.”
