Faf de Klerk has 60 Test appearances to his name, having earned the majority of these caps under the leadership of Rassie Erasmus since 2018.
However, the 33-year-old only featured in three Tests last year, and has appeared as a substitute against just Italy and Georgia this season as issues with both fitness and form have seen him fall by the wayside.
With Cobus Reinach still performing at a top level as the ‘veteran’ scrumhalf in the squad, and Grant Williams and Morne van den Berg consistently making an impact, De Klerk has clearly slipped down the pecking order.
