Rising South African rugby star Kai Pratt is facing an uncertain future after the Sharks confirmed that he had returned an adverse analytical finding for a prohibited substance.

The Durban-based franchise announced on Wednesday that a urine sample provided by the 18-year-old junior contracted player during testing in Stellenbosch on 10 April 2026 produced the adverse result.

The findings were released on 22 June.

Pratt has exercised his right to have his ‘B’ sample analysed, with testing taking place on 7 July.
