Springbok lock Lood de Jager will face an independent disciplinary hearing following his red card in South Africa’s 32-17 victory over France in Paris on Saturday.

De Jager was sent off shortly before half-time after his shoulder made contact with the head of French fullback Thomas Ramos.

Referee Angus Gardner, along with his fellow match officials Nika Amashukeli and Christophe Ridley (assistant referees) and TMO Ian Tempest, were unanimous that the tackle “always illegal” and issued a permanent red card.
