This past weekend, Stormers star Paul de Villiers received a late call-up to the Springbok starting team, replacing none other than iconic captain Siya Kolisi after the World Cup-winning skipper suffered a hamstring strain.
De Villiers went on to produce a standout performance, and will retain the No 6 jersey against Scotland this Saturday after making his Test debut to become Springbok No 954.
Rugby talent clearly runs in the family as De Villiers’ brother, Jacobus, is another highly rated prospect currently playing for the South Western Districts at the ongoing Craven Week tournament.
