DHL Stormers forward Hacjivah Dayimani and Blitzboks alum Werner Kok reportedly headline a list of 15-man players to potentially feature for Team SA at the 2024 Olympics.

According to a report on Netwerk24, Dayimani and Kok are among a select group targeted by SA Rugby for the Paris spectacle.

The governing body is reportedly in discussions with provincial unions to secure the release of earmarked players for the national sevens squad.

The wishlist includes JC Pretorius, Edwill van der Merwe (both Lions), Stedman Gans (Vodacom Bulls), Angelo Davids (Stormers), Yaw Penxe (Sharks), and Sako Makata (Griquas). The hope is that these players could participate in a couple of World Sevens Series tournaments this year.

For the Blitzboks, who have yet to qualify for the Olympics, this potential inclusion could significantly enhance their chances of success. The final opportunity for qualification is a tournament in Monaco from 21 to 23 June 21.

Kok, a former Sevens Player of the Year, boasts extensive experience with the Blitzboks, as do Davids, Gans, Makata and Pretorius.
