Following a 20-8 victory over the Sharks in the Investec Champions Cup clash in Durban on Saturday, here are the player ratings for the Toulouse.

15 Thomas Ramos: Spectacular at times as Toulouse consistently made breaks against the Sharks. Ramos showed all his class during the match and was also typically excellent off the tee. 8

14 Blair Kinghorn: A constant threat on that right wing and was rewarded for his efforts with a try early in the second period. Is looking in fine shape ahead of the Six Nations. 8

13 Pierre-Louis Barassi: Has been in superb form this this season but he did not quite have that influence in Durban, despite a couple of decent carries. 6

12 Santiago Chocobares: Unfortunately went off in the first half with a serious-looking injury. Had done nicely before then. 6

11 Matthis Lebel: Just missed out on a try by having his foot in touch, but grew into the game and had a fine second half. 7

10 Romain Ntamack: Like Ramos, there were some superb moments from the Toulouse fly-half, who created plenty of opportunities for his team-mates. 8

Not at his best

9 Antoine Dupont (c): Strangely, a mixed display from the France superstar. You saw aspects of his quality, but there were lots of errors. There was plenty of intrigue with Dupont playing in South Africa for just the second time but this display will certainly not convince the naysayers in the country, who don’t believe that he is the best in the world. 6

Planet Rugby player ratings key 10 - Career defining performance 9 - Outright blockbuster effort 8 - Significantly influenced the result of the game 7 - Committed and effective outing 6 - Flashes of brilliance outside of executing fundamentals 5 - Fulfilling the role required by position (base level) 4 - Poor execution of fundamentals 3 - Costly errors and/or discipline in the game 2 - Poor performance that directly impacted the result 1 - Grossly ineffective throughout 0 - Should have carried water instead

8 Jack Willis: Another fine display from the Englishman, who is revelling in the south of France. There were plenty of big carries and excellent breakdown work as the Toulouse back-row shone. 8

7 Anthony Jelonch: Wore the number seven shirt but was generally seen at the back of the scrum, where he was tireless throughout. 8

6 François Cros: Always does the unseen work, particularly at the contact area, whether that’s disrupting opposition ball or cleaning out his team’s won rucks. A quietly effective performance yet again. 8

Man mountain

5 Emmanuel Meafou: A big performance from a big man, who was named the player of the match. There were a few in contention but it’s hard to begrudge the France international, who was impactful everywhere. 8

4 Thibaud Flament: His combination with Meafou is among the best in Europe. Despite his slight frame, he is good in the carry, while they managed to get the lineout sorted. 7

3 Dorian Aldegheri: Enjoyed his battle with Ox Nche as Toulouse got the better of the scrum. 7

2 Peato Mauvaka: A strange one from the hooker as there were plenty of breaks and big carries, but his decision-making was poor when in the open spaces. Still a very good display but will want to be more clinical in the future. 7

1 Rodrigue Neti: Endured a difficult start but grew into the match and produced a fine display all-round. His set-piece work was good and it was matched by his work ethic in the loose. 7

Replacements: Continued the work of the starters pretty effectively as Toulouse remained on the front foot. A couple of big hits from Joel Merkler stood out, while Josh Brennan went about his work well. 6
