Springboks and Stormers fly-half Manie Libbok has taken to social media for the first time since he was hospitalised after being on the wrong end of a nasty tackle.
The pivot was stretchered off the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday after copping a nasty high tackle from Toulon’s Yannick Youyoutte.
The French lock was subsequently red-carded for the challenge and is set to face a disciplinary panel on Wednesday to decide his suspension fate.
Manie Libbok thanks fans
His sending-off mattered little in the match’s outcome as the Top 14 giants were already up 14-24 and retained that advantage until the end of the Investec Champions Cup fixture.
Libbok has since been ruled out for the Stormers’ second game of the tournament against Harlequins, with Jurie Matthee likely to start in the number ten jumper with Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu and Damian Willemse also sidelined.
Meanwhile, the playmaker has taken to his Instagram page to thank fans for their well wishes after sustaining the concussion.
“Appreciate the messages of support—grateful and blessed to keep going!” Libbok’s caption read which was accompanied by several images of him in Stormers kit.
The fly-half is being monitored by the Stormers‘ medical team and might be available for selection again when the side returns to United Rugby Championship action after the clash with Harlequins.

Stormers’ injuries
They will face the Lions on 21 December with a coastal derby against the Sharks a week after. While the Stormers’ injury updates have been rather bleak in recent weeks, defence coach Norman Laker did provide some good news with Feinberg-Mgnomezulu returning to training this week.
“He is allowed to start training from Wednesday onwards,” Laker said. “But the doctor said another week will do him good.”
Meanwhile, Springboks lock Salmaan Moerat is back in the selection frame for the Stormers and could turn out for the Capetonians against Quins at the Stoop this weekend.
Still, John Dobson could field multiple youthful players in his matchday 23 against the Premiership club.
“At the moment we do have a lot of injuries, we can’t look away from it. It will take one or two youngsters to make it into a match-day 23 or just train with the team to make sure we have the numbers,” the defence guru added.
“One or two of them will get an opportunity to prove what they’ve shown us in the Currie Cup.”
