Saracens have announced the return of Owen Farrell, who will rejoin the club on a two-year deal ahead of the 2025/26 season after a brief stint at Racing 92.
The fly-half spent the entirety of his professional career at the London-based side, but he left the club and moved to the Top 14 outfit for the start of the 2024/25 campaign.
Farrell struggled to settle in at the Parisians, with injuries disrupting his time in the French capital, but the two clubs have agreed a fee to allow the playmaker to move back to the Premiership.
‘Saracens is my home’
“Saracens is my home and the opportunity to come back is one that excites me enormously. Having watched from afar this season, it is clear to see that the club has incredible potential, and I can’t wait to get back in the mix for the 25/26 season,” Farrell said.
Racing reportedly paid €500,000 to buy the ex-England captain out of his contract at Sarries, with the pivot agreeing a two-year deal at the Parisians with the option of a third.
However, he has decided to leave after just one year and will now return to the Londoners for the start of next season.
He boasts a wealth of experience having played 256 times for the club and earned 112 caps for England before he stepped away from Test rugby following the conclusion of the Rugby World Cup.
“Owen has Saracens in his DNA; his competitive spirit is woven into the fabric of this club, and we are delighted he has chosen to come home,” Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall said.
“He returns to a young group full of potential, players eager to learn, play and push for success. We know he will love being part of where this group, and this club, are headed.”

Racing struggles
Farrell arrived in France with much fanfare but it did not work out as planned and he was labelled a “flop” by French publication Midi Olympique.
He follows Siya Kolisi in being another high-profile signing that failed to settle in at Racing.
Like the Springboks skipper, Farrell has also returned to the club he initially left and will play on for the next two years.
There are suggestions that he could turn to coaching after this deal finishes, although that was not confirmed in the Saracens release.
