Leinster have been boosted ahead of their Investec Champions Cup semi-final clash against Northampton Saints at the Aviva Stadium.

Leo Cullen has issued an injury update following his side’s 35-22 defeat at the hands of Scarlets in the United Rugby Championship, only their second loss of the season.

Springbok boost for Leinster

After sustaining an injury in the clash against Ulster a fortnight ago, Springboks star RG Snyman has returned to full training, Cullen has confirmed, and there is more good news for the Irish club.

Ireland international forward Ryan Baird is also back in contention for a spot in the matchday 23, having come through the game at the weekend with no issues after his return from injury.

Additionally, fellow forward James Ryan will increase his training load this weekend as he continues to recover from injury. The same is true for Rob Russell, with Leinster set to further assess the pair as the week progresses.

Ryan has been sidelined since Ireland’s final Six Nations match of the year against Italy after sustaining a calf injury.

There is some bad news on the injury front with Cullen confirming that flanker Will Connors has sustained an arm injury and is unavailable for selection and will be further assessed this week.

Meanwhile, Brian Deeny will have a procedure on a knee injury, which will keep him out of action for the rest of the season.

The club had no further update on full-back Jordan Larmour, who sustained a hamstring injury earlier this year.

Northampton Saints head to Dublin off the back of a confidence-building 48-31 victory over Bristol Bears in the Premiership while Leinster will be eager to bounce back from their loss to the Scarlets.
