Following a dominant 43-15 victory over Leicester Tigers in the Premiership clash at the Rec on Saturday, here are the player ratings for Bath.
15 Ciaran Donoghue: A player who has impressed everyone this season but the playmaker, having been given a chance at full-back, struggled in the first half. He was much better after the break, though. 5
14 Joe Cokanasiga: Shackled pretty effectively by Leicester. Cokanasiga did have a few good bursts, which included scoring the penultimate try, but he couldn’t quite break free on enough occasions. 6
13 Cameron Redpath: As ever, useful at the breakdown and his deft hands set up a few promising positions in attack before he was replaced in the second period. 7
12 Will Butt: Failed to really provide much punch in the Bath midfield. There for his gain line presence, but the Leicester defence did not budge when Butt carried. 5
11 Will Muir: Quieter than he has been recently. Always a willing chaser and does the wing basics well, but he lacked a spark on Saturday. 5
Class again
10 Finn Russell: One intercept aside, the Scotland star was typically excellent and was the inspiration behind the majority of Bath’s best moments with ball in hand. 8
9 Ben Spencer (c): Russell’s trusty sidekick with the scrum-half similarly excellent thanks to his box-kicking accuracy and slick service. Also scored a fine individual try. 8
8 Alfie Barbeary: Was powerful in contact and consistently got his side over gain line, particularly off first-phase ball. Also had some neat passes to change the point of contact. 8
7 Sam Underhill: Very busy on both sides of the ball, although he did not quite have the impact of his back-row colleagues. Still made his presence felt, however. 7
Just pick him Steve
6 Ted Hill: Just give him some game time England, preferably in Argentina. Once again, Hill was a veritable star in this Bath side. Showed ridiculous pace to prevent a Leicester try before using that speed to almost outpace Adam Radwan. Add that to his power in contact and accuracy in the technical aspects, and you wonder what more he has to do to convince Steve Borthwick, who has treated him badly 8
5 Charlie Ewels: Came up with a couple of key turnovers, one at the breakdown and another at the lineout, to show his importance to this side, but was perhaps lucky to escape a card. 7
4 Quinn Roux: Scored a try and put himself about in the loose, while also doing some good work in the set-piece. 6
3 Thomas du Toit: Not quite as influential as he usually is – he didn’t score a try for starters – with Leicester having the upper hand in the scrum in the first half. 5
2 Tom Dunn: The dummy for his try was so audacious and rather epitomised what was a fantastic display. Dunn was everywhere and also did his core duties well. 8
1 Beno Obano: Was a ubiquitous presence in the loose, but Obano will not necessarily be happy with how the scrum went, especially before the break. 6
Replacements: Max Ojomoh was simply sublime in his came,o while Will Stuart and Guy Pepper also made notable impacts during their time on the field. The bench certainly did their job as they lifted the intensity to blow Leicester away. 8
