Super Rugby’s the Force will face a Western Province XV outfit expected to feature players from the wider DHL Stormers squad in October.

The Australian team will tour the Republic in September and October and tackle the Cheetahs and Emerging Ireland in the Toyota Challenge, before crossing swords with Province in a friendly in Stellenbosch as part of their spring tour.

According to a statement on the Force’s website, the WP XV will look to members of the Stormers ranks. The 2024-25 Vodacom URC is set to kick off on 20 September, with the Capetonians to host the Vodacom Bulls in round 1.

Force general manager of rugby Chris Goodman said the tour would provide invaluable opportunities for the playing squad and coaches.

“We’ve identified the need for more playing opportunities for our squad after the 14-game Super Rugby season, so we’re thrilled to lock in three games in South Africa against strong opposition,” Goodman said.

“We believe this spring tour will help develop team cohesion and connections within the playing squad. Players will also be exposed to different opposition and different conditions making it an invaluable experience.”
