The Sharks bounced back to winning ways, racing to a six-try Currie Cup victory over Griquas at Kings Park on Sunday.
A fast start featured five first-half tries as the Sharks raced to a 40-21 victory against Griquas and climbed into fifth place after six rounds of the domestic championship.
Scrumhalf Jaden Hendrikse and fullback Hakeem Kunene capitalised on the strong start, giving the Sharks a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Wing Eduan Keyter extended that advantage to 21 points before flanker Marco de Witt responded for Griquas. But flanker Jannes Potgieter dotted down for the Sharks bonus-point at the half-hour mark before the first-half frenzy was capped off by inside centre Jurenzo Julius. Flyhalf Lionel Cronje maintained a 100 percent conversion rate to give the Sharks a 35-7 lead at the break.
Griquas powered back in the second half, tries from centre Sango Xamlashe and wing Dylan Maart closing the gap to 14 points, but the resurgence ended when Sharks hooker Ethan Bester crossed the line in the fourth quarter to secure a 40-21 victory.
