World Rugby Player of the Year and Springbok powerhouse, Pieter-Steph du Toit reveals that he faces the possibility of shoulder surgery.

The 32-year-old utility forward, who became the first South African to win the prestigious award twice, revealed ongoing shoulder concerns in an interview with Rugby365 following his triumphant moment on Sunday.

“I am seeing a specialist on Wednesday,” Du Toit said. “We will make a call on what is going to happen in the next few days,” he said, not ruling out surgical intervention.

The timing of his possible operation follows closely after Bok coach Rassie Erasmus’ own shoulder procedure.

As speculation mounts about his health, two-time World Cup Winner Du Toit remains philosophical: “You never know when it is your last game.”
