Siya Masuku leads a contingent of players announced by the Sharks to have put pen to paper to extend their stay in Durban.

The Sharks announced on Friday that Masuku has signed a contract extension until June 2028.

Masuku was a headline signing for the Sharks from the Cheetahs before the 2023-24 season.

While the playmaker had to wait until February 2024 to make his debut, he more than made up for lost time, scoring 120 points in all competitions and guiding the team to the Challenge Cup title, which secured their place in this season’s Champions Cup.

The 28-year-old’s form led to a call into the Springbok alignment camps, but he has yet to be involved in any of the official squads.

News that Masuku will continue spending most of his prime years at Kings Park will be welcomed by head coach John Plumtree, who has also had recent Bok debutant Jordan Hendrikse added to his choice of playmakers for the 2024-25 season.

Meanwhile, the Sharks also announced contract extensions for a quartet of Junior Springboks who have impressed in the Currie Cup.

Centres Jurenzo Julius and Litelihle Bester have signed three and two-year extensions respectively, while fullback Hakeem Kunene and lock Coetzee Le Roux have also signed new two-year contracts.
