Fit-again Gianni Lombard has been named in the Lions’ 28-man travelling squad for the three-match Vodacom URC tour after Kade Wolhuter was ruled out through injury.
The Lions named a 28-player squad on Tuesday for the three-game tour that will see the unbeaten team tackle Dragons (13 October), Zebre (19 October) and Leinster (26 October).
Wolhuter, who started at flyhalf in both of the Lions’ opening wins against Ulster and Edinburgh, is one of six injured players who will miss the tour. The playmaker is joined on the injury list by hooker Morne Brandon, loosehead prop Morgan Naude, utility forward Ruan Venter, loose forward Siba Qoma and outside back Tapiwa Mafura.
Lombard and utility back Richard Kriel make their return to the squad after recovering from their respective injuries.
There is also place in the squad for young prop RF Schoeman.
