Jeppe claimed a derby victory over rivals KES to level their series at 1-1, while Grey College broke a derby curse against Grey High on Saturday.

The second leg of the Johannesburg derby saw Jeppe power to a 23-13 victory on Saturday afternoon, after KES claimed a 38-28 win in April.

KES flyhalf Vusi Moyo, who has reportedly signed with the Sharks, hit two penalties and converted their only try of the match, scored by wing Haniel Monkoti.

Jeppe flyhalf Matthew Coetzee also enjoyed an excellent outing, scoring a try and kicking two conversions and a penalty. Scrumhalf Talent Sithole and lock Lagan Leisher scored decisive second-half tries for Jeppe, after the game was deadlocked at 13-13 at half-time.

Meanwhile, Grey College broke the curse of losing every 10 years to brother school Grey High, by claiming a comfortable 41-27 win in Bloemfontein. The team from the City of Roses had lost to Grey High in 1994, 2004 and 2014.

Paul Roos continued their unbeaten run this year by winning 42-7 against Bishops, while Stellenberg and Outeniqua played to a 24-24 draw.

In KwaZulu-Natal, Maritzburg College needed a late try from fullback Luyanda Kunene to claim a thrilling 19-18 win against Pretoria Boys High.
