Vodacom Bulls star Cameron Hanekom is set to make his Springbok bow from the back of the scrum against Scotland, according to SA Rugby magazine readers.
With captain Siya Kolisi and blindside flanker Pieter-Steph du Toit set to start at Murrayfield on 10 November, 38% of those who voted in a recent poll favoured Hanekom completing the back row in the No 8 jersey.
The 22-year-old Hanekom on Sunday earned his first Bok call-up to Rassie Erasmus’ squad to face Scotland, England, and Wales in the UK.

The powerful Jasper Wiese garnered strong support at 37%, having featured prominently during the Rugby Championship. Elrigh Louw (15%) and Kwagga Smith (4%) emerged as alternative options at the back of the scrum.
A minority of readers backed shuffling the pack, with 6% voting to start Hanekom at openside flank and shift Kolisi to No 8 – a position he recently impressed in for the Sharks against Munster.
The poll results reflect the enviable depth at Rassie Erasmus’ disposal for the end-of-year tour opener, with Marco van Staden’s inclusion at No 6 (1%) drawing minimal support.
