Grey College scored a last-minute try to snatch a comeback victory against Affies in Pretoria, while Selborne College held on to beat Dale College in the Eastern Cape derby on Saturday.

Tighthead prop Danie Kruger scored a try in the 69th minute as Grey College twice came from behind to beat Affies 31-27 in a thrilling encounter.

Affies flew into a 16-0 lead in the first half, with all of their points from flyhalf Ruben Pienaar, who scored an opportunistic try from excellent defensive pressure.

Grey hit back just before the break through winger Pretorius Ekeji, going into half time 16-7 down. Tries from flyhalf Alzeadon Felix and outside centre Ethan Adams and a long-range penalty from fullback Heinz Stockenström put the Bloemfontein giants 27-21 up in the second half.

Pienaar hit another two second-half penalties as Affies regained the lead, but it was Grey who finished stronger, snatching the victory in the final play of the match.

Meanwhile, Paul Roos used the power of their pack to exact revenge on Paarl Gimnasium in a 23-17 win in Paarl, continuing their unbeaten run this year.

Props Oliver Rein and Henry du Plessis scored Paul Roos’ only tries of the match, while flyhalf Joshua Dampies kicked two conversions and three penalties for an 11-point haul.

Paarl Boys High got back to winning ways with a 73-6 demolition of Bishops, with right wing Aiden Jacobs scoring four tries.

Giant-slayers Milnerton suffered just their third loss of the year, as SACS powered to a 59-19 victory in Cape Town.

In the big Eastern Cape derby, Selborne held out to beat hosts Dale 29-28 in Qonce, after taking a 22-7 lead in the second half.
