Three-time winners France will face England in the 2024 U20 World Championship final this week, after beating New Zealand in a high-scoring clash in Cape Town on Sunday.
The French’s title defence continues in an all-northern hemisphere showpiece at Cape Town Stadium on Friday, after the English saw off the challenge of last year’s finalists Ireland in a hard-fought game at the same venue.
New Zealand and Ireland will meet in the third-place playoff. Australia, meanwhile, overcame Wales to set up a fifth-place final against Argentina, who got the better of hosts South Africa.
SA and Wales will face off in the seventh-place final with Italy meeting Georgia in the ninth-place final and promoted Spain taking on Fiji in the survival playoff.
