Edwill van der Merwe returns from injury as the Lions have received a Springbok double-boost for their Vodacom URC clash with Edinburgh in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Van der Merwe is one of two Springboks who will be making their first Vodacom URC appearances of the season for the Lions against the Scottish international-laden Edinburgh.

The 28-year-old has recovered from the ankle injury that kept him sidelined for three months.

Fellow Springbok Morne van den Berg also returns as the starting scrumhalf alongside flyhalf Kade Wolhuter, who is retained at No 10 after scoring a try in the season-opening win over Ulster.

Sanele Nohamba is named on a bench that features a five-three split between forwards and backs.

The Lions are without the services of Bok bruiser Ruan Venter, who suffered a shoulder injury against Ulster. Venter is replaced by JC Pretorius, with Jarod Cairns shifting the blindside flank.

The only other change to the starting lineup sees veteran former Bath and Sharks prop Juan Schoeman get a start at loosehead in place of Morgan Naude.
