A breakout Springbok star in 2024 is reportedly set to miss the end-of-year tour to the UK due to surgery, but Rassie Erasmus will welcome back a host of world champions for the three-Test trip.

According to Sunday newspaper Rapport, Lions loose forward Ruan Venter, who made his Test debut in July, is expected to be sidelined for up to four months after going under the knife on his shoulder this week.

Venter, known for his powerful ball-carrying, had impressed in the Currie Cup final and was gaining valuable experience in the Bok setup.

His injury means he will join fellow Bok loose forward Evan Roos on the sidelines, as Roos is still recovering from his own shoulder surgery and is only expected back next year.

However, there is good news for Erasmus as Franco Mostert, RG Snyman, Jean Kleyn, and Faf de Klerk are all due to be available for the Boks’ northern hemisphere sojourn, which kicks off against Scotland on 10 November.

Mostert has recovered from a leg injury, while De Klerk is back after a thigh injury. Snyman, Kleyn, and Damian Willemse have already returned to action in the Vodacom URC.

The Boks will aim to remain unbeaten in Europe for the first time since 2013, with clashes against Scotland, England, and Wales.
