South African loose forward Ruan Ackermann is reportedly set to quit English outfit Gloucester and link up with a top Japanese club next season.

The back-row powerhouse tasted defeat with the Cherry and Whites against the Sharks in the Challenge Cup final at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last week.

Ackermann, who joined Gloucester from the Lions in 2017, has become a vital asset for the Premiership club, and ended speculations of a return home by extending his contract at the club in February.

However, according to an article on Rugby Pass, the 28-year-old is in talks with Gloucester about an exit after having secured a two-year deal with the Canon Eagles.
