Root is currently playing for the Paarl-based side in the ongoing Betway SA20 tournament.
The side has been in red-hot form, and, at the time of publishing, top the standings with 28 points thanks to seven wins and just one defeat from their eight matches to date.
The Paarl Royals have already qualified for the playoffs with two matches remaining.
Root has been in scintillating form with the bat having scored 279 runs to date at an average of 55.80.

Meanwhile, De Villiers, now 43, is one of only seven players to have represented the Springboks on more than 100 occasions.
De Villiers scored 27 tries in his 109 Tests between November 2002 and September 2015.
He captained the Springboks in 37 matches.
Rugby took a heavy toll on De Villiers’s body – particularly his ‘loose’ knees. They have become the stuff of legend in his retirement years.

Being the legend that he is – and a ‘son’ of the area having attended Paarl Gimnasium and Stellenbosch University – De Villiers was never going to turn down the invite.
It’s something of a miracle that after so many surgeries, the star centre was able to WIN, let alone compete, in the challenge.
It’s unclear how many push-ups it took to be crowned the winner, but we are super impressed!
How many push-ups could you manage in a minute (be honest)?
