The Stormers have endured an up and down season, which has been largely impacted by a series of injuries to top Springboks.

On Saturday, the Cape side will take on Connacht in the URC, and Springbok World Cup winner Damian Willemse will start in what is a relatively familiar position at inside centre.

However, coach John Dobson also hinted that there could be an interesting positional shift for him in the near future.

“We have to have Damian on the field, we have to have Warrick (Gelant) on the field, we have to have Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu… Manie (Libbok) too when he comes back,” he said.

“At the start of the season every press conference had a question, ‘How are you going to fit them all in?’ For the first time over the last two weeks we’ve had three of the four. We’ve never had four. Sometimes we’ve had none. 

“I reckon there’s going to be a game this season – it won’t be over the next two weeks – when you are going to see a backline of Herschel Jantjies, Manie, Sacha at 12, Damian at 13, whichever wings there are… Seabelo (Senatla), Suleiman (Hartzenberg) or (Leolin) Zas. And Warrick at fullback. 

“That’ll be worth the ticket, won’t it? I’m absolutely adamant we’re going to do that in a game this season.

“It’ll be something special for SA rugby, but it just needs Manie back on the field though.”
