Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus revealed rugby’s secret saint on Instagram. Rassie is one of the most successful rugby professionals in South Africa, and he knows a lot.
He started as a player, winning many titles, including the Tri-Nations in 1998. As a coach, he guided the Springboks to two World Cup titles in 2019 and 2023.
Such a profile clearly shows how much Rassie knows about the rugby corridors in South Africa.
This puts me in a position to know a few secrets in the field and the influential people who work hard to support rugby behind the scenes.

Sharing on his Instagram, Rassie poured out his heart, praising the man he called the rugby saint.
“Thanks for the car, Gavin! I’m just joking! It was great to see you, Gavin Varejes! ” he said, starting to show Gavin a lot of love.
“You are a great man, and thank you for all your help and support(Rugby’s silent saint),” he said before giving Gavin the special title.

WHY GAVIN?
Popularly known as the Executive Chairman of Richmark Holdings, Gavin deeply loves rugby.
He has done extensive philanthropic work with the South Africa Rugby Legends Association (SARLA), of which he is president.
Indeed, being the association’s president would not be enough to make him the secret saint.
Surely, there is a lot Gavin does behind the scenes that people like Rassie know but have decided to keep a secret.
Besides all that, Rassie’s fans agreed with him and showed Gavin a lot of love for his work.
