Earlier this year it was confirmed that Stormers prop Brok Harris would be retiring at the end of the season after an incredible career that saw him play in more than 150 games for the Stormers and Western Province to go with 143 appearances for the Dragons in Wales.

Unfortunately, the 40-year-old has been forced to hang up his boots a little earlier than expected after picking up a serious injury after the recent win against Benetton.

Despite the fact he won’t have a fairytale finish, tributes have poured in from far and wide as one of the true servants of South African rugby hangs up his boots.

In an emotive video posted to social media by the Stormers this week, the caption read: ‘Farewell to a legend. We have come to the end of a remarkable career which spanned 19 years. Nobody has played more games for the Stormers than Brok Harris, but his impact was felt far beyond the four white lines.”

Featuring a host of special tributes to the iconic prop, it also drew an understandably emotional response from Springbok veteran Deon Fourie, who has played a large part of his career alongside Harris.

“How can you not shed a tear,” Fourie commented along with a tearful emoji.
