In the aftermath of the Sharks’ victory this past weekend, Siya Kolisi engaged in an honest and open dialogue during a post-match interview.
Kolisi was part of the Sharks team that mounted a monumental comeback from 19-5 down at half-time against Ulster to win 22-19, making them the first South African team in URC history to inflict defeat on the hosts in Belfast.
The Sharks consolidated their place in the top four of the competition standings, thus all but earning them a home playoff.
When asked about the status of the URC as a whole, Kolisi stressed the importance of the competition, not only on a franchise level, but also on Test level.
“It’s big for our country, it’s big for us as a group, and a lot of us are fighting to make the national team,” he said.
“Last year we won the Challenge Cup but this is big for us. We know how tough it’s going to be with the way Leinster is going, and the Bulls are going well, and Glasgow,” Kolisi further explained.
“To get a home playoff is big so that’s what we’re fighting for.”
DO YOU THINK KOLISI WILL PLAY AT THE 2027 WORLD CUP?
